Dream World 3 video-Popculture,desire,sex and power

What were your responses to the video we watched in class Friday? I never really thought about it so deeply but for the first time I felt like I had been personally degraded. These women allowing men to throw bologna at them while they were naked? What lengths are you willing to go to? I actually felt sorry for these women. Like I wish I coulde of brought a towel to them so they could cover themselves and tell them that this is NOT FUNNY! These men laughing like it's this big joke. How awful!! It was apalling. I think I'd rather work in a fast food restaurant and live poorly than live rich knowing that when I went to work that day I might be pulling bologna pieces out of my butt. I will pray for these girls so that they find the courage to pursue something where they receive the respect they deserve.

    I have to say that it was disgusting the level that of degradation that these women endure. I was enraged at first, but then I thought, that the blame doesn't lay with just the media or even the artist. It also can be placed on the consumer, we tune into these networks to watch these videos, buy these albums, or any other endorsements. This type of material will continue to flood the television networks as long as their is someone wiling to watch and support these artists.

    I was very disappointed and as a woman, everything that I saw was very degrading. I usually don't watch rap or any other videos that much because the few I saw was disgusting and I hate seen them since they portray woman in a slutty way and as if we all are or should be like that. I wish this image of woman in music videos will change in the future but I doubt they will, perhaps they will get worse... Just like you said, as long as there are people who will listen and buy the videos, they will continue to make more of them and play with woman's self-image as much they can. Therefore, people should stop buying these degrading videos and show some respect for woman...
